Land withdrawal for mineral exploration

Greetings, The Department of Interior has recently posted in the Federal Register the notice to withdraw lands from the ability to stake claims in the California area. this notice is here:

A part of the area covered by the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan has been segregated, and is proposed for withdrawal from operation of the Mining Law of 1872. The area affected along with the manner, address and time schedule for submitting public comments is contained in the Federal Register Notice of December 28, 2016 (see link below).

As a followup - the letter above is one written by the Mayor of Hesperia, supporting mining and raising concern against this intended withdrawal. Mr. Russ gave permission to pass this letter on to you. Thanks -
