I Want Your River Trash

Recommended Posts

Idaho I want your river trash or pictures of it. I would love to have all your lead to lay at the steps of the Capital during legislation, so save it and get it to me I will get it back to you if you want it. We need to show our legislators that we do good for our rivers. Will it do any good who knows, but I bet it will open some eyes getting us a foot in the door.

I would also like to know how many dredges we have in the state and roughly the amount of time you run them per year. The IDWR permit is per person not dredge so when they say a 1000 permits were given we have know idea how many REAL dredges were in the water, my bet is less then 200. I personally have two dredges and up to eight permits. We need to permit the dredge rather then the people. I know we are protected under the mining act of 1872 but the bark eaters are working on getting it changed and it didn't hold up in CA. So time for plane "B" and getting our state to back us before we become a Democratic state and trust me my friends they are taking over here in Idaho.

So save your junk and lead I would love a couple hundred pounds to show our legislators. Let's show then while groups like the ICL talk about how bad our waters are we worked to improve it and all the did was talk about it. Any ideas what to do with the lead afterwards? Drop it of at the EPA, DEQ, or maybe let the ICL dispose of it then they can say they helped improve the waters of Idaho.

Thanks

Ken Byers

PS. We need to understand that these enviro nuts watch sites like this to see what we are up to, the new 49ers found that out with a new style LEGAL dredge for CA. If I understand it right CA. Is already trying to stop it, we need sites that you have to have a referral from another dredger to join??? Put on your thinking caps.

OCCUPY OUR RIVERS

CALL TO ACTION

Recent Events in Idaho have prompted several citizens to take actions and demand accountability from their government and I am extremely proud of their actions in their quest for justice.

Two weeks before the Riggins Rodeo the BLM attempted to close Shorts Bar and Island bar. These two beaches are central to accommodating spectators who travel from out the region to enjoy the rodeo and the beauty of the Salmon River. Two weeks before the jet boat races the Coast Guard attempted to shut the race down by not sanctioning the race. In both of these cases citizens stood up and said no and that we the people have had enough.

Now the EPA under the threat of a lawsuit from the Idaho Conservation League is saying no to recreational dredge miners on the premise they are introducing a pollutant discharge into the river when nothing could be further from the truth and U.S. Supreme Court precedent reinforces the dredge miners position. If they can do this to the dredge miners, the jet boaters will be next.

If we do not take action and unite, then we get the government we tolerate.

It is the view of this elected official that we come together and peacefully assemble to petition our government for a redress of grievances, and formally protest the out of control tyrannical government imposing their ideas of how we should live in the west.

If the socialists can come together and occupy Wall Street, surely we can Occupy the River for a day. I would personally support all dredge miners and all other interested parties to come together and have a day of protest. It is our right and I believe our duty to stand united. As a sitting county commissioner I will personally assist the dredgers and dare the EPA to arrest me while exercising our First Amendment Rights. Can I count on you?

One person cannot do everything, however, together we can all do something. We need people to help us organize this event, set a date and get the word out. I will leave you with this thought, In 1857 in his personal conviction in battling for freedom and the equal rights of all as provided for under our Constitution, Frederick Douglas stated, "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."

Sincerely,

Jim Chmelik

well put,I like the idea of dredger recommended by dredger site..That's also a good idea on the lead collection. Positive media can only help us! I've  been to a couple gpaa meetings lately and it seems nobody is even really interested in doing much about this, I figured fellow prospectors would be more up in arms about this in idaho. anyways I'm up for helping out, I got some resources like friends in the sign business etc.. for banners picket signs and what not for the capital steps and when it comes to graphic design I can design nearly anything.

Thanks rock, and yes you are right our local clubs are doing nothing. I tried two years ago to get these guys ready for a fight and got nothing from them. When the president of one of the clubs response to the EPA permit is " times change we have to adjust and change with them " I about crapped. I am sorry if I offend anyone but our local clubs are more of a social club then anything, it seems if mining goes away they will still gather but it will now be a chess club or something. I know they have donated to PLP, but the PLP is not here helping us. I have talked with Jerry many times over the last five years dealing with concerns over what we need to do to protect ourselves from the CA fate and all I got was they can't don't worry, I am SOOOOO tired of hearing the Mining Act will protect us and we have the right to do this and that, guess what folks we don't have rights if nobody will INFORSE them. Miners all over are bitching form their couches, if you are going to do nothing to fight the fight but run your mouth then shut up and get out of my way.

We are not a group of miners fighting for all miners we are clicks fighting for our clicks.

While on the Rogue river a few years back the OR miners were pulling their dredges out of the water and bitching about the 49ers taking over. Dave Mac's name was used in vein in ways I had never heard of. The more claims the CA guys gather in OR the madder the OR guys get.

This Occupy the River post is on as many mining sites as I can find, rock was the first reply to it on any site. Combined it has had over 600 views with one reply??

I will have all three of my dredges in the river during Occupy and the hair on my wrist shaved so the handcuffs don't pull on it if it comes to that, and while miners all over the west sit and watch the news about it remember this, how much have you really done to fight the fight.

How to fight the good fight?Usually, things go to court an miners would need to be reprisented by a lawyer. To enforce would be to have some kinda cop ,an how would dredgers have some kinda dredging cop to uphold an help the dredger?

I am no brainiak,so I would not be a lawyer type,I am more physical an was a sgt.In the infantry scouts.

Everyone I am sure would like to help with other dredgers. But without lawyers an enforcement. What would you suggest?

Ken,

I know your up on the river as I met you up by Lowman over fourth of July weekend. I would like to get involved and help anyway I can. How can I get ahold of you via phone. My name is Kennen and we sat in the ranger station together. We need to do all we can and I would like to talk to you some more. Please let me know how to get ahold of you and maybe I can do more about this worsening situation. I am also very interested in the occupy the river day and sent an email to Jim. thanks

Occupy the river will be in Idaho County. The county sheriff there is the only constitutional sheriff in the state. The county sheriff has more power in his county then any fed's, he can remove them or even arrest them if need be. It's a start or we can just wait until we can't mine anymore then figure it out.

The PLP is fighting a good fight as is Dave and the 49'ers, but with the PLP bad mouthing Dave it shows we are all not in the same fight now as a group.

The state of ID is waiting to see what happens in Utah before we go after the fed's also. I can't and won't go into detail on what's going on here as miners are not the only ones who view this site.

This is not my first fight with the EPA, DEQ, or Forest Service. I grew up in a logging family in northern ID. I am already working with a few law firms, but at the moment the EPA has done nothing to harm or impede me so a suit can not happen.

This in not my first rodeo, I don't sit and bitch I do whatever I can.

Ken
