Geowizard 122 Report post Posted April 8, 2015 Placer mining requires water. Water will be a commodity in short supply this season. I will provide updates through-out the season! - Geowizard
Reno Chris 101 Report post Posted April 9, 2015 I hope that this years season is not the financial disaster last years was. A family cannot pay its bills with no gold production.

diggingbar 13 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 Any updates on this year's season? Are we to assume there isn't enough water to make a go of it this Summer? If not, what's plan B?
Geowizard 122 Report post Posted July 8, 2015 diggingbar, I'm shipping a limited amount of gold. There isn't enough water this year to do much good. - Geowizard

Reno Chris 101 Report post Posted July 12, 2015 So how is the excavation equipment performing? Still electronic problems with getting them to run properly or was that resolved?
Geowizard 122 Report post Posted July 12, 2015 Chris, The maintenance problems have been resolved. Logistics - getting fuel, oil, grease, hydraulic fluid and parts to keep equipment operating is part of the business of mining. - Geowizard
polardds 1 Report post Posted August 25, 2015 Geo, Since you already have the Bobcats, why not an auger for one of them? I have found the auger attachment very useful and allot more powerful to get deeper than a hand auger, as long as access is appropriate for a skid steer loader. 1 Geowizard reacted to this
Geowizard 122 Report post Posted August 26, 2015 polardds, Yes. Unfortunately, the places that need drilling are not accessible with a Bobcat. - Geowizard

Reno Chris 101 Report post Posted August 30, 2015 Seems like the 2015 season has ended early, more production problems this year?
Geowizard 122 Report post Posted August 30, 2015 Ophir 2015; I arrived early - April 20th. The mining season usually runs June, July, August. So... Late August, things were cooling down to frosty in the morning - that's my signal to wrap it up. A few other placer operations try to work until "freeze-up" - Geowizard 1 Ronald C reacted to this

Geowizard 122 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 Down the Creek; Makes me curious... Why do you ask? - Geowizard
chickenminer 42 Report post Posted September 5, 2015 Geo... Interesting you choose that way. We always progressed upstream. Reason for that was to keep drainage and use the "old" cut for settling pond. Of course this was mining virgin ground. Reworking previously mined ground does have certain advantages ! Hard for me to get excited about working tailing piles but I have done some extensive testing of the ones on my ground just to satisfy curiosity. Good knowledge to have. I do have to admit though, having huge piles all thawed out and ready to sluice does tempt
