Geo,

 

Since you already have the Bobcats, why not an auger for one of them?  I have found the auger attachment very useful and allot more powerful to get deeper than a hand auger, as long as access is appropriate for a skid steer loader.

Ophir 2015;

 

I arrived early -  April 20th.

 

The mining season usually runs June, July, August.

 

So...

 

Late August, things were cooling down to frosty in the morning - that's my signal to wrap it up. A few other placer operations try to work until "freeze-up"

 Interesting you choose that way. We always progressed upstream. Reason for that was to keep drainage and use the

"old" cut for settling pond.

Of course this was mining virgin ground. Reworking previously mined ground does have certain advantages !

 

 Hard for me to get excited about working tailing piles but I have done some extensive testing of the ones on

my ground just to satisfy curiosity. Good knowledge to have. I do have to admit though, having huge piles all thawed

out and ready to sluice does tempt :)
