chickenminer 42 Report post Posted April 13, 2013 Chuck, The issue with the Mosquito Fork is navigability. State of Alaska says it is, that's why they accept claims. Federal land manager (BLM) says it is not, that's why you will get in deep do-do if you try and mine there. The State owns the river bed under navigable waters of the State ( Submerged Lands Act). The only way this issue gets resolved is if the State of Alaska takes BLM to court and asserts its state's right. Head way is being made in this area thanks to the State and the Fortymile Mining Association. Nothing ever happens as fast as we would like, especially when dealing with the government!
